Iranian and Jewish New Yorkers are expressing mixed reactions to the ongoing military action against Iran, Operation Epic Fury, as concern grows for political prisoners held in custody for demanding freedom from a brutal regime. The Center for Human Rights in Iran, based in New York, has called on governments worldwide and international organizations to press Iranian authorities to release all political prisoners and detainees during this period of conflict. Jewish and Iranian New Yorkers have expressed support for the Iranian government's efforts to eliminate the country's nuclear weapons. However, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and other NYC elected officials have publicly condemned the attack on Iran, calling it an "illegal war of aggression". Rabbi Mark Wildes of the Manhattan Jewish Experience supports the efforts to dismantle Iran's oppressive regime, while Rabbi Marc Schneier of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding expressed gratitude for the United States and Israel Defense Forces' action during the conflict.
