J.D. Martinez, a longtime baseball player, has been named as a Special Assistant to Baseball Operations by the New York Mets. This follows Carlos Beltrán, who has been with the team since 2023. Despite not officially retiring, Martinez has not played since his last game in 2024. He has also worked with Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts to help him overcome a slump.
