Sandy Brondello, the former WNBA champion Liberty head coach, has apologized for a controversial comment she made about Dream star Angel Reese during a game against Atlanta. The comment was made during Atlanta's 111-92 win over Brondell's Tempo. The Toronto head coach was heard calling Reese a "protected species" after the bench boss disagreed with a foul call. Following the game, Reese shared a post on X about the comment and tagged Brondelli’s account with a clown emoji. The WNBA has been in the midst of several incidents where players have reported receiving racial comments.
