A potential deal is in place to reopen West Suburban Medical Center in Chicago, following the sudden suspension of patient care. Reded Rathnaker Patlola, who owns the hospital property and a minority partner in Resilience Healthcare, who operates the hospital, has asked Insight Hospital & Medical Center to become an interim operator and manager of the hospital. If successful, Insight could also operate the hospital long-term. However, the Illinois Department of Public Health requires approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board. The closure of the Oak Park hospital has led to hundreds of job losses and concerns over access to care and community health outcomes.
