National Geographic has awarded its 2026 Nat Geo 33 2026 list to Sacramento Kings guard Russell Westbrook for his efforts to improve clean infrastructure and assist in finding job opportunities in technology. His efforts include partnering with Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI), a nonprofit, to install clean-energy infrastructure across the city and launch workforce training to help with the electrification of municipal and commercial fleets. His Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation has partnered with nonprofits in Los Angeles for over a decade to help create pathways for Black and brown youth by distributing laptops in schools, facilitating job-training programs and more. Despite his successful basketball career, Westbrook remains a fan favorite and is likely to be inducted into the Hall of Fame after he retires.
