Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek has warned that she may veto the public meetings bill approved by lawmakers that could potentially undermine transparency. The bill, approved in March, includes broad exceptions to Oregon's open meetings law, allowing for private discussions of public business by some or all members of city councils, school boards, or other local governments. The governor must give lawmakers and the public at least five days of advance notice before she can veto a bill, and she must decide by next Friday whether to sign the bill, veto it or allow it to become law without her signature.
