Two nonprofits, Paws for Life K9 and Wings of Rescue, transported 103 "at risk" dogs from Van Nuys Airport to Chicago after nearly 250 dogs were seized from a property in Lake Hughes last week. Teams from both organizations worked through the night to transport the dogs from West Valley Animal Shelter to Van Nuysis Airport and loaded them onto a Wings of Recovery flight. The dogs will soon be available for adoption. The feat was hailed as remarkable by Paws For Life K 9 Rescue founder and president Alex Tonner, who said it relieved exhausted shelter teams and opened space for more animals in desperate need.
