Gulf states’ Iran battle scars push them closer to Trump — and Israel

The Gulf Cooperation Council states, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, have been placed on the front line of the Iran war. The countries are located just across the Persian Gulf from Iran, which has been using economic pain to pressure the United States to maintain its grip on Iran. The effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz is directly affecting the Gulf states, which send most of their oil through the waterway. The Iranians have also targeted the countries with missiles and drones, damaging energy infrastructure and destroying their reputation as an oasis of calm and economic development in an otherwise turbulent region. Saudi Arabia's crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, reportedly urged President Donald Trump to launch the war, and now MBS has been urging him to topple the Iranian government.
