The Southern California News Group has compiled a questionnaire for the 2026 primary election candidate, Estuardo Mazariegos, to ask candidates for representation in Los Angeles City Council District 9. The questionnaire also includes a list of questions about the top issues facing the district, including addressing homelessness and housing affordability in the city, clean, safe streets, affordable housing, quality green spaces, and public safety. Mazarigos has previously advocated for the development of affordable housing in his district and for the creation of a Department of Free Public Safety and Violence Prevention. He supports halting payment for councilmembers who regularly miss Council or committee meetings, increasing disclosure requirements and fines for violators, enhancing protections for whistleblowers, expanding pay-to-play restrictions and expanding the existing developer contribution ban to cover additional high-risk categories.
