Hikers on the Middlefork Savanna Trails in Lake Forest, Oregon, took a casual hike to rescue four kittens from a tree. The rescue took place on a Sunday afternoon and involved six people, including Dr. John Kyncl, a physician, and David Forrest, a mechanic. The kittens were visible in a tree next to the trailhead’s parking lot and were rescued by Karen McGowan, Elawa Farm’s community partnership manager. The hikers discovered that the cold temperatures could potentially cause hypothermia. They transported the kittens to a safe place and the remaining two moved to higher branches. The nearly four-hour rescue effort was successful and all four kittens were adopted the next day.
