Georgia mom Sherry Petty donated her kidney to her son, Joseph McCanne, who has cystic fibrosis, after his medication caused severe kidney damage. McCanne had to undergo two double lung transplants and survived, but his condition deteriorated after he married a year later. The medication McCanne took to keep his lungs functioning led to serious kidney damage and he would need another transplant. Petty was a perfect match and the transplant was successful.
