The source of the crude oil spill in Mexico's Gulf Coast is unclear, with residents fearing more contamination will wash onto beaches in Tabasco and Veracruz states nearly a month after the first signs of contamination were detected. Many affected communities fear the spill could damage their livelihoods ahead of the Easter holidays. The Gulf of Mexico Reef Corridor Network has warned of potential damage to wildlife and warned that coastal ecosystems must be cleaned quickly before sea turtle nesting season begins in April.
