The Hockey Hall of Fame (HHOF) has responded to U.S. hockey star Jack Hughes' claim that he cannot keep his gold medal-winning goal from the 2026 Winter Olympics. Hughes, who now plays for the New Jersey Devils, had argued that the Hall should not own the historic puck. The HHOF responded by stating that it was never Hughes' own and that they have a paper trail and signed paperwork of where it came from. The donated items, along with other Olympic items, are now on display at the HHOF in Toronto. Hughes has expressed his desire to gift the puck to his father rather than himself, stating that he knows his father would love having it.
