Alberto Carvalho, the embattled LAUSD boss, has been absent from public appearances since federal agents raided his home, his downtown office and a Miami property tied to an FBI probe. His wife, Maria Florio Borgia, was seen removing the family trash from their upscale San Pedro home, a property worth north of $1.4 million. The investigation, which began more than a year ago, reportedly began with a referral from New York prosecutors working a criminal fraud case tied to AllHere, the tech startup that received a $6 million contract with LAUSD to build an AI chatbot. The scandal has led to the resignation of Carvalo and the appointment of Andres Chait as acting superintendent.
