New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill has called Big Tech the "Big Tobacco of this era," referring to the Big Tobacco of the era. She outlined her plan to give the State more tools to protect kids on social media, including measures to stop targeted ads to children, give parents more control and require clear warnings about risks. Sherrill also highlighted the work of Assemblywoman Andrea Katz, who introduced bills last month demanding social media platforms take more steps to keep kids safe. On her first day in office, she signed an executive order creating the Office of Youth Mental Health, Safety and Awareness within the Department of Health and directing all agencies with jurisdiction to prioritise kids' mental health outcomes.
