Luka Modric: Croatia confident of captain's recovery for 2026 World Cup

AC Milan midfielder Luka Modric underwent surgery after suffering a broken cheekbone during a match between Milan and Juventus. The 40-year-old is expected to be fit to lead Croatia at the 2026 World Cup. Milan did not specify how long Modric might be out but wished him a speedy recovery. The World Cup starts on 11 June and Croatia will begin their campaign against England on 17 June.
