These systems are now using artificial intelligence to create a searchable database that can be integrated with other law enforcement data repositories. This shift comes as government authorities are looking at ways to target and implement these systems. However, there is no national law that'meaningfully limits' the use of this data. The technology highlights the potential pitfalls of technology claiming to solve complex issues like crime, poverty, and climate change by technology. The U.S. does not have a federal law that significantly restricts the collection, retention, sale or sharing of location and mobility data. This data can potentially be used to target political opposition or disrupt constitutionally protected activities.
