Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) has blamed his primary defeat to state Rep. Steve Toth (R) for buying into "misinformation" about his stock market ventures. Crenshon said voters believed he made millions from insider trading, which was not true. The House Republicans are leading a renewed push to ban insider stock trading, a measure that has bipartisan support in Congress and the president's approval. The bill, advanced by House Republicans, would allow members of Congress, their spouses, and their dependent children to retain their stocks they already own but prevent them from buying new ones. However, Democrats are likely to oppose this bill as it does not ban the president, vice president and their families from stock trading.
