Gerrit Cole, the Yankees ace and likely future Hall of Famer, is set to begin his rehab with Double-A Somerset on Friday, following a successful buildup, de-load, and another buildup process. Cole, who underwent Tommy John surgery 13 months ago, is expected to make his season debut at the end of the season. This will be just the first of several rehab starts, as he is currently on the 15-day injured list rather than the 60-day list, which would have ensured he could not return before May. Meanwhile, Anthony Volpe's return to playing successfully in a rehab game with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he is likely to make three straight starts with SWB and then evaluate whether he is ready for a position.
