Reese Witherspoon shares troubling statistics about AI: The 'revolution has begun'
Published on April 17, 2026.
Actress Reese Witherspoon has warned that women's jobs are three times more likely to be replaced by artificial intelligence (AI) than those of men unless they learn how to use the technology. She shared this on Instagram, stating that if three out of 10 women in her book club were the only ones using AI, that means 70% of the group is not keeping up. This information is likely to originate from a report by the United Nations’ International Labour Organization and Poland’s National Research Institute stating that 9.6% of jobs traditionally held by women are likely to replace by AI in the coming years, compared to only 3.5% of roles traditionally held for men. Witheraspoon previously encouraged women and filmmakers to begin learning how to utilise AI in their careers.
