Delaware state senator's nonprofit, Jobs for Delaware Graduates, receives millions of dollars a year from state grant and contracts. The nonprofit, which relies heavily on state funding to help students achieve academic, career, personal and social success, was looking for a new executive director with strong connections to the General Assembly. Since July 2017, the state has paid $34.2 million to JDG, roughly $4 million annually. The amount of state money toJDG grew from $3.2 billion in fiscal year 2018 to $4.6 million in fiscal 2025. While no laws prevent lawmakers from working at agencies that receive state dollars, some question the ethics of doing so.
