New federal work requirements for adults 18 to 64 have been implemented, forcing individuals to document at least 80 hours of work per month. This rule also removes exemptions for veterans, unhoused people, and young adults recently leaving the foster care system. The changes follow an order from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that states must share personal data about SNAP recipients or risk losing federal funds.
