The Supreme Court is considering allowing the Trump administration to revive an immigration policy used to turn away migrants seeking asylum at the U.S.-Mexico border. The policy, metering, was used to limit the number of people who could apply for asylum, causing a humanitarian crisis during President Donald Trump's first term. Some conservative justices seemed receptive to the Justice Department's efforts to overturn a lower-court ruling against metering. However, the administration maintains that metering remains a "critical tool" used under both parties and should be available in the future. The case is one of several immigration cases being considered by the court.
