Jaroslav Chmelar, a fifth-round pick in 2021, is gaining recognition in the NHL after returning from a four-game stint with the Rangers in December. Prior to this, Chmelara had played only two NHL games since joining from Providence College. After a third opportunity, head coach Mike Sullivan stated he didn't want to remove him from the Rangers' lineup. The 6-foot-4, 226-pound winger has played a physical role on the fourth line and has also shown glimpses of a scoring touch. Despite limited ice time, he has collected 25 points across 46 games in Hartford this season, on pace to exceed his AHL-bests in a full season. Chmelare plans to study more video and seek advice from NHL players.
