Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas has urged travelers to plan ahead for spring break, particularly as the partial federal government shutdown continues to affect security screening and other services. The airport is encouraging passengers to arrive earlier than usual and review identification, baggage, and parking plans in advance. It also advises travelers to review TSA packing rules for liquids, electronics, and prohibited items to avoid delays at security checkpoints. With federal identification requirements tightening, passengers who arrive without a REAL ID-compliant license or a valid passport will be required by TSA to complete an identity verification process, which comes with a $45 fee and allows travel for a 10-day period, and an additional $45 verification fee will be charged for subsequent travel.
