The "lemon aide" stand at Baldwin second graders in Lauren Maywald and Kristin Maldonado's second grade classes was part of a teaching program at the school. The students raised over $1,000 for Camp Anchor, a Town of Hempstead initiative that provides programming for children and adults with special needs. Administrators at Baldwin believe in soft skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and communication, as well as civic engagement.
