FX's new fictionalized drama series, Love Story, has been criticized for its portrayal of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette's seven-year relationship, which ended in 1999 when they died in a plane crash. The show, which traces John's career in magazines and Carolyn's in fashion, depicts their courtship, marriage, and deaths. However, the series leaves out some details about the real-life events that inspired some of Love Story's key moments. The first episode of LoveStory depicts John and Carolyn meeting at a New York City fundraiser, but the real story of their first encounter is not clear.
