Seth Rogen, the star of The Studio, criticised the cancellation of the Writers Guild of America West (WGA West) awards show due to an ongoing strike from its staff union. Rogen suggested that SAG-AFTRA could pay enough to prevent the event from being cancelled. The WGA West announced its cancellation in a letter to presenters and participants. The staff union, which has been picketing outside the union's L.A. headquarters, alleges that management committed unfair labor practices during first contract negotiations. However, the New York Writers Guild Awards ceremony will proceed as separate unions are not on strike.
