Fla. prisoner giggles as he learns fate for viciously stabbing cellmate in the brain with a pen: ‘God have mercy on your soul’

A Florida prisoner, Marcus Terry, was sentenced to life in prison for stabbing his cellmate, 64-year-old Ray Matos, to death inside the Dade Correctional Institute in 2021. Terry's attorney, Steven Yermish, argued that inadmissible evidence made it into his trial and Terry was found guilty of second-degree murder in 2025. However, Judge Ellen Sue Venzer denied Terry's request for a new trial and instead sentenced him to life without parole.
