Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, expects the first tranche of a 90-billion euro ($103.89 billion) loan from the European Union to be completed in April. This comes after EU leaders failed to break Hungary's veto of the funding at a summit. The loan is crucial for Ukraine's fight against Russia following its 2022 invasion. This year, Ukraine needs between $45 billion and $52 billion in external financing to cover its budget gap. The EU agreed on the 90 billion euro loan package for Ukraine for this year and next in December, but Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban has blocked its disbursement over a dispute about Russian oil supplies.
