A poll conducted by the UC Berkeley Citrin Center for Public Opinion Research-POLITICO has found that half of California's registered voters would support a ballot initiative, the Billionaire Tax Act, which would impose a one-time tax on the state's ultrawealthy residents. The poll found that 50 percent of respondents support the bill, with 41% strongly supporting it and 9% somewhat supporting it. However, 28% of voters oppose it, with 5% somewhat opposing it and 22% strongly opposing it. The survey also found that 54% of Golden State voters worry the tax will push individuals out of state, with 63% concerned about the impact on businesses. The majority of voters also expressed little confidence in California’s tax regime and believe they pay more taxes than they should.
