Indiana dad pushes 'Hailey’s Law' in Ohio after teen found dead, dismembered near Columbus
Published on March 14, 2026.
The father of Hailey Buzbee, a 17-year-old Indiana girl whose dismembered remains were found near Columbus, is advocating for changes to Ohio law to strengthen online protections for children. "Hailey's Law" would require parental approval for a child to download an app or a game, and would also require parents to be notified if features such as chatting ability change. The proposal also includes creating a "Pink Alert" system to alert the public to missing children and adults who may not meet all requirements of a state-issued Amber Alert.
