The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI), responsible for overseeing Denver's roads, infrastructure and waste management, has lost key employees in the past six months due to project missteps and controversy. The department has also lost 50 employees, more than any other in the city since a round of city layoffs ordered in August. The departures have raised concerns about a "brain drain" in the department, according to one former employee. DOTI's head of traffic and safety, its head of capital construction projects, a senior engineering manager, its director of waterway resiliency, a deputy city traffic engineer, and an asset program manager have all resigned. The agency has also been criticized for not communicating clearly about a conversion of two streets from one-way to two-way in East Denver.
