Gillen Takes Aim At Counterfeit Car Seats In New Bill

U.S. Representative Laura Gillen has introduced a new legislation, the CAR SEAT act, which would set aside $1.5 million for education about the dangers posed by counterfeit car seats. The bill would require the secretary of transportation to conduct an education program on noncompliant or counterfeit child restraint systems that do not meet Federal safety standards. It would also amend the U.S.-controlled U.N. Code to mention this safety program. Gillen's co-sponsorship of the bill is also significant for the Northern Mariana Islands.
