Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller has suggested that the use of blockchain and stablecoins could power the global payments system for a decade or more. Despite this, he is not yet convinced that these types of cryptocurrencies can function as a store of value. He believes that stablecoins are more efficient, faster and cheaper than existing solutions. Several traditional payments firms, such as Western Union, MoneyGram and Zelle, have announced plans to launch stablecoin settlement systems.
