UNLV's Interim President, Chris Heavey, highlighted the university's growth trajectory at the annual State of the University address, marking his first such address since taking over last April. The university is set to expand its Lee Business School, which has seen a surge in enrollment as companies relocate to Southern Nevada. The business school is currently housed in Frank and Estella Beam Hall, a building that has become too small due to its growth. With over 4,700 undergraduate and graduate students now enrolled in business programs, the school has outgrown its home. The Nevada Legislature earmarked $75 million for the new business school's construction, with the goal of breaking ground within 18 months. UNLV is also planning to open a branch campus in Hainan, China, and plans for growth at the home of the first phase of a $17 million expansion of the Early Childhood Education Center.
