A Northern California man, Howard Wang, has been charged with a third murder in Los Angeles County in relation to the double murder of his wife and mother-in-law in 2025. Police in Walnut Creek, a city in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on Sept. 18, 2025. Despite initial reports, investigators found two women dead with a bladed weapon and Wang was arrested with two young children inside the home when police arrived. Now, investigators in Contra Costa County allege that Wang and another man, 33-year-old Los Angeles resident Demarques James Pearl, drove from the Bay Area to San Gabriel and shot and killed Chengli Li, 41, outside of his apartment the following day. If convicted, Wang faces life in prison without parole.
