A proposed class action has been filed against Costco for making customers pay for tariffs and planning to pocket the full refund after they were deemed unlawful. The lawsuit alleges that Costco collected the costs through elevated pricing and then sought refunds from the federal government. Instead of reimbising the customers, Costco plans to use these refunds to lower future prices. The potential refund pool is said to be "enormous" for the company.
