Tesla has launched a public configurator for its Supercharger for Business program, revealing the cost of third parties to buy into the network, costing $940,000 all-in for a standard V4 8-stall site. The tool also reveals ROI estimates that vary by location and prices Tesla's cut at a flat $0.10/kWh. The price breakdown includes hardware, installation, software, payment processing, billing, mapping, customer support, and network operations. To test the tool against gas stations in four states, Texas, California, Florida, and New York, it found that San Francisco was the best of the group with the highest electricity cost and the highest utilization period. The company's business model is now building a wholesale layer on top of its own network, where hardware sales and a per-kWh operational fee are both recurring revenue streams.
