Two men from Charlotte, Andre Lamar Sumner and Erren Woodson, have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a multi-state conspiracy involving millions of dollars in stolen luxury vehicles and large-scale drug trafficking. The conspiracy involved the theft of high-end cars and trucks from dealerships, rental companies, and private owners. The FBI and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Stolen Car And Recovery Law Enforcement Team (SCARLET) determined that the operation used altered Vehicle Identification Numbers to fraudulently register stolen property. Both men were sentenced to 70 months in prison and ordered to serve 51 months of supervised release. The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, Russ Ferguson, described the defendants as criminals from head to toe.
