The proposed legislation proposed by the Ohio Senate in Columbus aims to criminalize the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to create child pornography. The bill, currently being debated in the Senate, aims to reduce instances of child exploitation involving children and technology, particularly involving the ages of children and computers. The case of a teenager charged with more than 50 felony counts highlights the need for this type of crime to be criminalized. Critics argue that the proposed legislation will allow for the creation of laws that criminalize individuals who produce child pornography without the consent of the person they are accused of producing pornographic images of their children. The proposed legislation aims to significantly reduce this crime. Supporters of SB 163 argue that it would align with existing laws that require an actual photo of a child to be used to prosecute someone without AI technology.
