The White House's new smartphone app, which combines news announcements with social media posts, photos, and livestreams, has been downloaded 1.4 million times by Android users as of April 4 and 436,000 times by Apple users for a combined total of 1.84 million. The app promises news "straight from the source, no filter," and allows users to set notifications for alerts on key developments, executive actions, and national priorities. It's unclear whether the download discrepancy between device type is due to iPhone users and Android dominance globally. This move is part of the administration's strategy to reach directly to the American people and not rely on legacy media.
