DoorDash expands drone delivery to Matthews, Huntersville

DoorDash and its drone partner, Wing, have expanded their flying food delivery operations in the Charlotte area to reach over 60,000 households. The expansion comes as Advocate Health, a subsidiary of Atrium Health, plans to start delivering prescriptions, labs and medical supplies via Zipline in Charlotte in 2027. The new drone stations are located at Sun Valley Commons in Indian Trail and the Lowe's off Matthews Township Parkway. DoorDash workers attach orders from nearby businesses to a drone, which then flies up to four miles to the destination and lowers the order by hand. The most popular restaurants for drone delivery are Manhattan Bagel, Chopt, Panera and Firehouse Subs.
