McLean shows grit, graduates from prospect status in season debut

Nolan McLean, a highly respected young pitcher, performed well in his season debut against the Pirates, striking eight batters over five innings. Despite a mixed performance, McLean allowed two earned runs and taking a no-decision. He also displayed increased fastball velocity, with three pitches at least 98 mph. McLean was the Mets' top-ranked prospect before he surpassed 50 career innings.
