Kenneth Branagh, who directed 2011's Thor, has considered returning to the Marvel Universe for another cinematic outing with the character he played in. Branagh expressed his desire to complete his relationship with Thor with a darker sequel that would take the character "into a glorious twilight" but whether he would participate in the sequel is uncertain. He also mentioned a few ideas for the sequel, which he believes would be beautiful to depict the characters' sunset.
