SiIicon Valley's AI agent hiccups: Wasted tokens and 'chaotic' systems

Despite the industry's enthusiasm for artificial intelligence agents, the underlying technology is still costly and inefficient. The CEO of Meibel, Kevin McGrath, stated that companies need to be deliberate about which tasks are best suited for AI agents. He also highlighted the issue of wasted tokens and a poorly-maintained monitoring system. At the Generative AI and Agentic AI Summit in San Jose, technical staff from companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Temper, highlighted new techniques to manage the operational costs of running AI agents and their systems.
