Morgan State University has received a $2.4 million grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to lead a project called Rads towheth, which aims to convert nuclear radiation into electrical energy. The university's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) will partner with organizations including Northrop Grumman, Widetronix, Omega Project, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and Applied Research Associates. The project will use technology to generate electricity from radioactive emissions and aims to demonstrate that a scaled system can meet demanding performance, safety, and durability requirements.
