‘Access Hollywood’ canceled as NBCU winds down syndicated production

NBCUniversal is ending its 30-year run of "Access Hollywood" and will continue to air through the summer. The decision comes as part of the company's strategy to shift away from producing first-run syndicated programming and aligns with local station programming. Other notable shows include "Karamo" and "The Steve Wilkos Show" which have been produced for nearly 20 years. The company has reportedly concluded that local and national news and community-oriented programming are more sustainable than the syndicated studio model for regional programming.
