This comes after Khanna supported a proposed ballot initiative that would tax California's billionaires with a one-time 5 percent tax. The proposal has divided California Democrats and has put Khanna at odds with Gov. Gavin Newsom, one of the leading contenders for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination. Silicon Valley leaders have opposed Agarwalk's congressional bid, with Y Combinator President and CEO Garry Tan accusing Khanna of turning his back on the district.
