Spanberger’s appearance in pro-redistricting ad highlights differences in referendum campaign strategies

Governor Abigail Spanberger is featured in a pro-redistricting ad as voters decide whether Democrats should have power to implement a new proposed congressional map in Virginia. The main campaign supporting the redistricting efforts, Virginians for Fair Elections, has received over $33 million in contributions, which allows the pro-amendment strategy to be more focused on TV ads to increase their message. However, the main anti-Redistricting campaign has received just over $3 million in large contributions and will instead focus on grassroots outreach.
